The First Family
Reverend Orlando Karl Winters, Sr. and Family Pastor Winters is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and is the son of Deacon Henry R. and Loretta F. Winters. He is a product of a Christian home where education was stressed. Pastor Winters graduated from Maple Heights High School. In 1981, he earned the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Ministries and Sociology from Malone College in Canton, Ohio. Pastor Winters also hold two Masters of Arts degrees (New Testament and Theology) from Ashland Theological Seminary. Currently, Pastor Winters is a William Meyers Fellows doctoral student in the Black Church Studies Program at Ashland Theological Seminary, Ashland, Ohio. Pastor Winters has served as an adjunct professor at his alma mater, Malone College, Clark Atlanta University and Carver Bible College.
Among his many distinguished accomplishments, Pastor Winters was named an inductee of the Morehouse College Board of Distinguished Preachers; Moderator of the Atlanta Missionary Baptist Association; "Who's Who in Religion"; Who's Who in Christian Leadership"; instructor and parliamentarian inthe Georgia New Era State Convention, Dean of the PNBC Southern Region and instructor and supervisor for the national parent body of Progressive National Baptist Convention (PNBC). Before becoming the pastor of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in 1992, Pastor Winters served as Pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Canton, Ohio from 1983-1992.
In 1992, Reverend Winters became the Pastor of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, the "Church with, a Vision of God." Under his leadership, the church adopted the theme; "Raising our Expectations to fulfill our Mission through Redemption, Edification, and Servanthood. The ministries that have been established or revitalized under Pastor Winter's leadership include: The Beautification Committee, The Parking Lot Ministry, The Barnabas Visitation Ministry, Samaritan House, The Men's Ministry, the Women's Ministry, The Seniors' Ministry, Children's Church, Young Adult Wednesday Night Bible Study, Shekinah Glory Young Adult Choir, the Agnes Barnett Saints of Silence Youth Mime Ministry and Silent Messengers Adult Mime Ministry. Reverend Morris Nolan became the Assistant Pastor under Pastor Winter's leadership.
Pastor Winters has been married for 23 years to Patricia Ann Jones. Mrs. Winters received the Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle Grades Education from Brenau University with honors. She has done graduate studies, also at Brenau University, Gainesville, Georgia. Mrs. Winters is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Kappa Delta Pi, International Education Honors Society. She is an accomplished musician and singer, having served throughout the year inthe music department at Mount Moriah invarious capacities ranging from accompanist to director of music.
Pastor and Mrs. Winters are the proud parents of two children: Yolanda Nicole and Orlando "Landy J.” Yolanda is a freshman education major at Clark Atlanta University. She is an avid reader and lover of music. Yolanda sings in the Shekinah Glory Young Adult Choir and is a member of The Agnes Barnett Saints of Silence Mime Ministry, the Youth department, the young adult Bible study ministry and the Sunday School.
Landy J is a high school student at Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia. Landy is also a lover of music. He is currently a member of the Hillgrove marching band. His natural gift of music is being developed through playing three instruments: alto sax, piano and drums. He is also a member of the Shekinah Glory Young Adult Choir, the Agnes Barnett Youth Mime Ministry, Sunday School Department and the Youth department.
